Crew Chief - Extreme E

Job description

The Fearless Pursuit of Better isn’t just about racing. It’s also about accelerating sustainability, championing diversity, equality and inclusion, and raising awareness of the impact of climate change.

Our entry into Extreme E will give us the platform we need to play our part in this - and much more. It’s a brand new challenge for us, and it will engage, excite and inspire our supporters and fans.

The next chapter of the McLaren Racing story is about to begin.

In this role as Crew Chief, you’ll lead and work with our trackside team at Extreme E races, which means you’ll need to engage, excite and inspire our people.

You’ll also be responsible for keeping our demonstration fleet up and running, including our heritage F1 race cars, while carrying out R&D on a UK based IndyCar too. Day to day, you’ll make sure our cars meet build specifications and regulations, help with freight and travel planning and manage a number of trackside garage environments.

Job requirements

Leadership experience in a similar role within the motorsport world is vital. You have what it takes to win people over. You’re analytically minded and results-driven. You can interpret engineering specifications and drawings. You have a deep understanding of race car systems and components and you know how people, equipment, travel, transport and logistics all contribute to the bigger picture in the context of a global motorsport team.

What’s just as important is that you’re as passionate as we are about the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda. In the spirit of Extreme E, teams that have both female and male drivers sharing equal driving duties, we’d also love to receive applications from underrepresented groups, too, as we build on our shared belief that diversity and inclusion makes a more successful team.
