Reporting into the IndyCar Arrow McLaren General Manager in our Indianapolis location, as Head of the Finance department, this role will develop the financial strategy within the Arrow McLaren IndyCar team.


PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

  • Own the annual budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting cycle and delivering this to the Senior Leadership Team in the US and UK.
  • Maintain long term financial planning capturing the business plans and initiatives
  • Build and maintain long and short-term financial models, P&L, cash and balance sheet, and analysis to help prioritize and measure investment decisions and support business initiatives
  • Ownership of the month-end process to close the books, while ensuring underlying ledgers are closed on a timely basis
  • Review P&L and BS ledgers monthly for accuracy and for completeness
  • Provide insight to the leadership team on performance against budget, KPI’s, and guidance on risks and opportunities in the company and the management of these to ensure a predictable result against budget.
  • Understand initiatives the team value, and assess ROI of these both financially and operationally to provide insight on decision making.
  • Identify efficiencies in the cost base, to continuously optimize spend against performance
  • Oversight of the inputs to weekly cashflow submissions for payments and receipts, and management of best practice.
  • Understand the commercial performance against targets to ensure the leadership team can make the best decisions in spend and resource management.
  • Management of the external auditors in the completion of the statutory audits for Arrow McLaren, as part of the McLaren Racing Group
  • Measure and manage the companies working capital performance and drive best practice into the various teams
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency in both process and systems to support a growing team and maximize performance, and continue to secure the company’s assets.
  • Completion of all tax submission requirements managing external consultants
  • Management of insurance requirements in the company to ensure the security and safeguarding of the company’s assets
  • Governance and policy ownership across the company to protect the company’s assets and people
  • Communicate with key stakeholders internal (to include McLaren Racing) and external to maintain a proactive approach to the budget forecast
  • Demonstrate agility and organization ability to identify and manage ad hoc tasks and demand to deliver priority tasks to the Company.

Job requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration required
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in finance & accounting
  • Experience of preparing company accounts and/or responsibility for running audits in practice, or in a financial accounting role in industry
  • Previous experience with systems implementation and/or API integrations ideal
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, and capacity to improve existing practices
  • Experience setting up payroll taxes in multiple states with vendor support
  • Proven record working in, and leading a team
  • Positive, gets things done attitude, with the ability to motivate the team around you
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and the Microsoft suite
  • Background with presenting to executive leadership and to a board of directors
  • Experience of using a financial accounting software package, QuickBooks ideal
  • Demonstrated capabilities to improve existing practices
