Lead, NFTs & Digital Licensing

Job description

Purpose of the Role:

To take lead responsibility for the operational management, fulfilment and marketing activities of digital licensees within the McLaren Racing portfolio. The Lead, Digital Licensing will be required to proactively drive the digital licensing agenda which will primarily include NFT creation, management and deployment. You will need to be part project manager, part partner manager and part creative thinker to drive this program forward. This is a critical step in McLaren Racing’s next generation of fan engagement.


Role Dimensions:

  • Reports to Head of Licensing & Merchandise
  • Based in the UK – Woking office, hybrid working model in place
  • Up to 25% travel required
  • Flexibility in working hours will be required


Project Management Accountabilities (35%):

  • Accountable for commercial delivery and contract management of partner(s)
  • Develop and manage product roadmaps, critical paths, workflows, and timelines
  • Conduct user interviews, gather feedback, conduct product research 
  • Provide updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders, internally and externally
  • Collaborate with broader marketing team for program support 
  • Determine and define KPIs and objectives, updating as required
  • Establish user flows and diagrams to explain program to larger business
  • Assist with testing, creating tutorials, project documentation
  • Ability to work across and with various departments within McLaren Racing, and across the McLaren Group

Partner Management Responsibilities: (35%)

  • Lead, develop, and maintain relationships with NFT studio/ marketplace partner(s) to deliver the McLaren Racing NFT program
  • Collaborate and liaise with sponsors who support or collaborate on NFT program
  • Support the team as required for new digital licensing opportunities, e.g. fan tokens
  • Develop an understanding of partner’s business, objectives, competitors and KPI’s / metrics that resonate when evaluating success
  • Develop a deep understanding of McLaren’s Fanbase segments as a basis for product and marketing targeting and growth opportunities
  • Set best practices for project and fiscal management along with strong client and internal communication
  • Develop and deliver go to market process and launches encompassing fully integrated, multi channel, marketing campaigns .
  • Understand trends in the marketplace working alongside partner to future proof NFT program
  • Work closely with other members of the team to deliver monthly reporting and communications to Partners


Creative Thinking: (30%)

  • Work alongside digital and brand creative team to identify the right IP owned by McLaren Racing that can translate into digital assets
  • Curate thinking and concepts to come up with ongoing drops and fan engagement opportunities alongside partner
  • Think creatively on ways to engage McLaren fans and future fans inside the partner platform/ on blockchain
  • Lead strategic thinking alongside digital team on ways to demystify NFTs for the McLaren audience
  • Champion new ideas to mobilize McLaren fans onto partner platforms to buy, sell and trade NFTs within the program
  • Spearhead thinking from idea through to execution on ways to engage new audiences through NFTs and digital assets
  • Collaborate and liaise with sponsors who support or collaborate on NFT program
  • Support the team as required for new digital licensing opportunities, e.g. fan tokens

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in cryptocurrency, or blockchain required, NFT experience a plus
  • Demonstrate knowledge of crypto and blockchain industries
  • Interest in creative thinking
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage critical paths and projects on time
  • Resourceful, with a strong teamwork mentality
  • A recognition of the high standards representative of the McLaren Brand
  • Competencies required: Cypto-literate; Blockchain knowledge; Collaborative; Creative thinking; Leadership; Organised
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent in spoken and written English (additional languages would be an advantage)
