Purpose of the Role:
The role is central to the creation of the trackside Brand Experience and delivery of the marketing operations at Grands Prix and Formula One tests. The postholder will be responsible for the set up and delivery of the Team Hub at Grands Prix as well as a number of activations at track, to provide McLaren stakeholders with an unrivalled brand experience.


The marketing operational elements include guest activities such as garage tours, Race Watch management and Hot Laps for key VIP’s. As such an ability to communicate and liaise with the C suite guests and external suppliers in attendance is required, as well as Formula One and the Media. The postholder is also to assist in the correct representation of the McLaren brand and partner branding across all Paddock inventory and assets.


The role requires significant collaboration across multiple functions; racing, commercial and communications to ensure the commercial success of a Grand Prix weekend. It requires the highest levels of attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced environment and being highly organised and prepared.


Role Dimensions:
▪ Unsocial hours and worldwide travel required.
▪ Budget management.
▪ No direct reports.
▪ Working in an immediate team of 3, and part of the wider Commercial team.


Principle Accountabilities

Grand Prix Hub

  • Management of Team Hub logistics at Grands Prix, including overseeing the setup, daily working and pack down.
  • Sign off that the Team Hub is being handed over to McLaren to the specification and standards required, including on site documentation and review for the following year.
  • Management of freight logistics throughout the year; schedules, custom requirements and related logistics for both the McLaren commercial and catering freight.
  • Operational delivery of events hosted within the Team Hub.
  • Management of refurbishments of the Team Hub throughout the season, and to a greater extent the refresh off season.
  • Overall contribution to the creation of the expected standard of brand experience within the Team Hub.

    Marketing Operations
  • Plan, produce and help deliver the VIP and Partner garage programme at each Grand Prix; working cross-functionally to ensure all requirements are met and the tours run to schedule, the Race Team are briefed appropriately and support with the delivery of VIP garage tours. This includes updates, upgrade briefs and garage protocol reports.
  • Plan, produce and help deliver the VIP and Partner Race Watch; working to ensure all guest requirements/bookings are met, team personnel are briefed, and the Race Team is across the detail, working cross-functionally to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Plan, produce and help deliver the on track Hot laps programme; co-ordinating with all stakeholders including F1 and McLaren Automotive, cross-team collaboration, driver request process and partner management liaison.
  • Brand management at Grands Prix; ensuring all partner contractual brand assets are delivered across all inventories.
  • Assist with the logistics of accreditation and trackside pass requirements.
  • Assist with on event scheduling, communication and briefings.
  • Management of on-site VIP gifting at Grands Prix.
  • Support the Director of Commercial Trackside Operations and Business Operations Director, F1 with the production of Driver marketing schedules for Grand Prix weekends, test days and marketing days at the MTC, collating requirements and briefing documents.
  • Support with on the day management of the driver marketing days at the MTC

    Operations
  • To work in cooperation with Associate Director, Commercial Strategic Projects – Partnerships on the partnership with McLaren Automotive.
  • Manage cars provided for Commercial purposes, responsible for bookings, co-ordination, risk assessments, and valeting.
  • Support McLaren’s sustainability goals by reporting and tracking metrics which support net zero goals.
  • Creation of efficiencies through effective use of systems and improved processes.

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Significant proven experience in global operational planning and delivery of events.
  • Proven experience in interacting with the C-Suite.
  • Attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously working under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally for mutual benefit of all parties.
  • Supplier accountability.
  • An understanding of sustainability practices.
  • An understanding of the Formula One environment.
